BEARD CARE

With products from MARIA ÅKERBERG you can easily get a clean, healthy and handsome beard, while at the same time caring for the environment. We have everything you need from cleansers and shaving cream to aftershave and styling products.

Hygiene

Grooming products from MARIA ÅKERBERG keep the hairs hydrated and provide a healthy, attractive lustre. Dirt easily gets caught in facial hair, especially around the mouth, which is why careful cleansing routines are extra important. The skin underneath the beard may easily get dry, so use an exfoliator frequently. This cleanses and removes dead skin cells, reducing the risk of itching and redness.

Health

Studies performed in southern Queensland, Australia, have shown that facial hair absorbs up to 95% of harmful UV radiation, reducing the risk of cancer. The skin of the bearded men in this study was better moisturised, and polluting particles in the air were caught in the beard. This implies that a beard may be beneficial if you have pollen allergies and/or asthma, as the hairs catch a lot of the allergens.

Environment

Many products on the market contain substances that are harmful for your skin, and for all other forms of life on earth. Knowing how the contents of skincare products affect us and our environment, is the very foundation and motivation behind MARIA ÅKERBERG. That is why we only offer completely natural products with organic ingredients.

Cleansing

To keep your beard fresh and reduce the risk of skin irritations, we recommend Hair & Body Shampoo Rosemary. This cleansing product will prevent dryness and keep your hair and skin healthy..

The lathering facial cleansers Foaming Wash Gentle and Foaming Wash Clearing are other alternatives, which work perfectly for both face and beard.

Exfoliator

Whether you have a beard or not, using an exfoliator once or twice per week is a great way to keep your skin clean. Apply AHA & Jojoba Peeling and rub it in to stimulate circulation in your skin. This will also stimulate the follicles, promoting a more full-bodied and protective beard.

The Jojoba grains in AHA & Jojoba Peeling have the perfect size and shape to gently remove dead skin cells without irritating the skin. The product also contains Lactic Acid, which helps prevent lumps of melanin to form in the skin, and has a brightening effect on hyperpigmentation.

Styling

Use Moulding Cream to produce hold and a matte finish. Beeswax and oil from coconut makes the beard full-bodied and easy to shape, without making it oily. Towel dry the hair and rub in Moulding Cream sparingly. The product is very economical, so you only need a dollop about the size of a pea.

Beard & Facial Oil, with Broccoli Oil, makes your beard look healthy and well-groomed, while supplying nutrients to the skin and adding a fresh scent of Laurel Leaf. It also provides great lustre without making the beard feel oily. Beard & Facial Oil softens dry and scrubby hairs, prevents ingrown hairs and has an antibacterial effect. Take a few drops and massage them onto the beard, all the way down to the roots. You might want to finish by combing the beard, to make sure that the oil is evenly distributed.

Shaving

Shaving Cream helps the razor glide smoothly and protects your skin while you are shaving. The product contains Jojoba Oil, which both moisturises and softens your skin. The cream also softens the hairs, making them easier to shave. Since Shaving Cream contains no soap, you do not need to rinse it off after shaving. It can be used without a shaving brush, as it does not lather.

Remember to always use a sharp razor blade that cuts the hairs properly. Always shave with the grain, and use nourishing skincare products afterwards.

After shaving

Apply Beard & Facial Oil or Cold Pressed Jojoba Oil on your skin after shaving. These oils have antibacterial properties that reduce the risk of red spots. They nourish the skin and provide a soothing effect that feels good on your newly shaven skin.

Another great after-treatment product is After Shave Lotion. This product has a both cooling and moisturising effect on the skin.
