SEBORRHOEIC DERMATITIS – HOW TO EASE THE SYMPTOMS

Top tips for strengthening your skin and preventing flare-ups

Seborrhoeic dermatitis is a common skin condition. It usually affects the scalp but can also appear on the face and body, particularly in areas with a high concentration of sebaceous (oil) glands. The skin becomes red, flaky and itchy.

While seborrhoeic dermatitis can clear up on its own, you can alleviate symptoms using natural products from MARIA ÅKERBERG.

What is Seborrhoeic Dermatitis?

The exact cause of seborrhoeic dermatitis isn’t fully understood, but it is believed to be linked to a type of yeast that naturally resides on the skin and scalp of adults. If the yeast proliferates or if your skin is particularly sensitive to it, seborrhoeic dermatitis can develop. Genetics may also play a role.

In young children, a milder form of seborrhoeic dermatitis, known as cradle cap, can occur. This condition features greasy, yellowish scales on the scalp and eyebrows.

Factors that can worsen seborrhoeic dermatitis:

-•Dehydration, particularly during cold weather
- Harsh skincare products
- Drying soaps
- Stress
- Tight clothing or headwear

Enhance results with gentle exfoliation

If your dermatitis is dry but not inflamed, exfoliating can help remove dead skin, allowing moisturising products to penetrate more effectively. Use Body Scrub on the body and for the scalp use Scalp Scrub Intensive.
